WSM and The Gonzaga Bulldogs Celebrate Mentoring with Spokane Matches
On Friday, January 22 Washington State Mentors (WSM) and the Gonzaga University Bulldogs invited Spokane area mentors and mentees to an exclusive men’s basketball practice to celebrate National Mentoring Month. Associate Head Basketball Coach Leon Rice spoke to the group about the importance of mentoring and community. Rice also led the group on a behind the scenes tour of the McCarthey Athletic Center. After watching the team practice for their upcoming game, WSM raffled off autographed Zags swag and thanked the mentors for all they do. Click on the link below for pictures from the event.
The following night, the WSM Champions of Mentoring award recipients watched Gonzaga battle for another win. Mentor Amanda Guthmeuller of Goodwill Industries and mentee Makia, along with two of their guests enjoyed a fun night with the Zags. The honored group met Gonzaga’s Athletic Director, Mike Roth as he shared his support for mentoring and the Spokane community.
WSM would like to thank Gonzaga University Bulldogs and Coach Leon Rice for so graciously hosting us for both events. In addition, WSM would like to thank all of the mentors, mentees and program coordinators that helped make this possible.
